In 2016, at the age of 36, Michelle tried climbing for the first time which changed the trajectory of her life as she knew it. Finding climbing lead Michelle down an un-expected path of not only a brand new adventure in a new sport, but also one of personal growth, self discovery and self love.
Challenging her own perceptions of what she was capable of, Michelle learned that living in a plus size body didn't need to hold her back. It didn't make her any less capable and that she could find fitness, enjoyment and strength in movement at any size.
Learning how to face her fears and overcome them on the walls has given Michelle a new found confidence and insight to use the lessons and apply them to aspects of her life to improve both her physical and mental health. Michelle also suffers from Fibromyalgia and is learning to live with the chronic illness, determined not to let her pain define her she continues to defy the odds and push the boundaries of what is possible for her.
At the current age of 43, Michelle is a strong advocate of female empowerment and finding the courage to chase our dreams at any age or body type. Discovering her thirst for adventure, Michelle now aspires to challenge her current perceptions of her impossible and see if she can overcome her fears and physical barriers further and have adventures that she has never dared to dream before.
